On June 11, six of the AMC's Outdoor Guides and I hiked through the Alpine Garden on Mount Washington, in search of the spring alpine bloom. It was a beautiful, but very windy day.
Diapensia (Diapensia lapponica), Alpine azalea (Loiseleuria procumbens) and Lapland rosebay (Rhododendron lapponicum) are among the first to bloom above tree
line and often do so simultaneously.
